Handcrafted jewelry is meant to be worn, enjoyed, and lived in. Like anything made with care, a little attention helps it stay beautiful for many years.
The following guidelines will help keep your ilaa & b pieces looking their best.

Caring for Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally develops a soft patina over time. Many people appreciate this subtle
aging, as it can enhance the texture and depth of handcrafted pieces.
If you prefer a brighter finish, silver can easily be restored with a gentle polish.
To care for your silver jewelry:

• Store pieces in a dry place when not being worn
• Use a soft jewelry polishing cloth to restore shine
• Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or harsh chemicals
Over time, textured surfaces may naturally darken slightly, which can highlight the character of the design.

Caring for Gemstones
Gemstones are natural materials formed over thousands or millions of years, and each stone has its own unique structure and durability.
While most gemstones used in jewelry are suitable for everyday wear, they should still be treated with care.
To protect your gemstones:
• Avoid dropping jewelry on hard surfaces
• Store pieces separately to prevent scratching
• Clean gently with a soft cloth and mild soap if needed
Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, ultrasonic cleaners, or abrasive materials, as these can damage certain stones.

Everyday Jewelry Care
To help preserve your jewelry, it’s best to remove pieces during certain activities.
We recommend removing jewelry when:
• Sleeping (delicate chains can bend or stretch)
• Swimming, especially in chlorinated pools or hot tubs
• Exercising or going to the gym
• Gardening or doing heavy household work
• Applying perfume, lotions, or hairspray
A helpful rule of thumb: jewelry should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.

Storage
When not being worn, store your jewelry in a dry pouch or jewelry box. Keeping pieces separate helps prevent chains from tangling and gemstones from scratching one another.

character of handmade jewelry.
